Release Pushed Back to Fall

After some confusion, Sega has confirmed that the long-awaited Aliens: Colonial Marines has been delayed until fall of this year. Sega, in a statement released to Game Informer, had this to say about the delay:

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don’t necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line…We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blueprint because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date.

The squad-based first-person shooter has seen many different incarnations on many different platforms over the years, with the most recent version being developed by Gearbox Software and announced in 2008. It has been delayed multiple times since then, with only a few screenshots and trailers trickling through in that time. Fan expectations for the title are high, and they can hopefully expect more promotional material as the new release date nears.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, 3DS, and Wii U.
