Says “Creative Artists” Will Receive Royalties from Lara-Su Chronicles Sales
On Monday, Ken Penders, still hard at work getting the Lara-Su Chronicles graphic novel series off the ground while defending the copyright claims he filed in a lawsuit Archie Comics filed against him, released more character art for the upcoming series. Assuming the case works in his favor, Dimitri will join the fray.
Penders says Dimitri’s full story will be saved for a later issue in the series:
While Dimitri is yet another key player seen throughout THE LARA-SU CHRONICLES, his full history as well as the untold history of the Dark Legion itself will be explored in the fourth volume of the series THE LARA-SU CHRONICLES: THE DARK LEGION. This particular story will reveal the opposite POV of events that transpire in THE LARA-SU CHRONICLES: BROTHERHOOD OF THE GUARDIANS, that lead to the Civil War which plays out during the course of the entire storyline.
In the update, Penders also discussed plans to reprint original stories featuring the Chronicles’s characters.
“These reprint collections not only will feature the original stories in chronological order, but as an additional bonus to longtime readers will also restore original material that was cut out due to space limitations during their original publication,” Penders said.
Finally, Penders pointed out that should the graphic novel be published, he’ll be doing something his former employer does not:
[....] To the best of my knowledge, unlike the current Archie Comics reprint editions of this material, creative artists – pencilers, inkers, letterers and colorists – who also contributed to these stories will receive royalties from the sales of these editions.
All of this, of course, appears contingent on who prevails in Archie v. Penders.

I never read the comics to be honest, and with this guy’s redesign of this character, I’m not changing my mind. This dude is already heading in the wrong direction with this design here.
@B-rad
well, you do know this crazy person isn’t writing for the series anymore so this rededign has no bearing on current issues and is really just an ex-writer’s vanity project.
@Trez O ok, so why isn’t he writing for the series again?
@B-rad: Because, apparently, he was going to be brought down from lead writer to just a side/secondary writer and either that didn’t pay enough or he didn’t like the lack of control that would give him over the plot, so he left.
Or, so I’ve been told by a few sources over the past couple months. I had always thought he’d been fired. Either way, it was decided that the plotlines and/or way he wrote was no longer what the book needed/what Sega wanted for the book.
I somewhat feel bad for him
@TLSonic
On his Board he mentioned it (His Good Star Trek Work I remind you) and claimed that he never cared for any issue of Star Trek he drew.
@SonicBlueRanger
I went and read his board on his history on the Star Trek books. You know I find it ironic that his artwork was way better in Star Trek then Sonic and yet Sonic is the series he is trying to get back to. As I said before Star Trek, even now, has a way bigger fan base than Sonic’s. My guess is he burn those bridges long before going against Archie.
I think Ken is suffering from one of two problems either:
Narcissistic personality disorder or
Avoidant personality disorder
I am being serious with this as Penders has shown lots of evidence of both.
Dimitri’s boots are pretty cool, but the rest sucks. I hope Archie saves us all from a horrible fate by winning this case and putting an end to these awful redesigns of characters that looked pretty decent in the olden days.
Well, that is certainly horrifying. Thank you Ken for quenching our thrist to laugh at your horribly designed creations. My favorite part is his chin, nothing is more “badass” then a droopy chin.
@Kate Vunza: You’re praying to God about your bigot’s nonsense, you should be ashamed of yourself. Do you want people to lose there jobs and livelihoods if Archie shutdown? Your a horrible person and should revaluate your priorities.
