Sonic Team Head wants Players to “Accept” Latest Entry
A swarm of Takashi Iizuka related interviews were released today, the result of an embargo lifted from a recent Sega event. We’ll wrap up most of them shortly, but for the moment, we want to focus on one. It comes from Digital Spy, and in it, Mr. Iizuka claims Episode II will likely be the last we see of the Sonic 4 franchise.
Below is the question offered, and Iizuka’s clear response:
Are you going to do more episodes after this, or is this the final one?
“We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the users for Episode 2, but we are currently not planning to release another episode. We just want to see how the users accept this episode.”
Many fans were wondering if we may, at minimum, see a third entry in the series. But given some of the community and consumers’ uproar over wonky gameplay mechanics and physics in Episode I, it now appears Sega may not want to test the water anymore, instead focusing on the normal crop of physical 3D Sonic releases we’ve come to expect at the rate of about once a year.
What do you think? Is it time to move forward from Sonic 4? Start a conversation about it. below.
