The Meow Mix is Coming to iTunes
Sega won’t release the Sonic Generations soundtrack for some reason, but it did remind fans on Friday that there are plenty of other Sonic related soundtracks available for purchase on iTunes–including the magnificent Sonic Colors OST–with a note that tunes from both Sonic the Hedgehog 4 games are coming soon.
No timetable was given in the Sega blog’s reminder, but notice was given that music from both Episode I and Episode II would make it to the digital marketplace “soon,” in community manager Kellie Parker’s words. In the meantime, other music is available on iTunes, including four 20th anniversary branded soundtracks and a couple Crush 40 works. At minimum, it does look like Sega is serious in providing a cheaper alternative to importing for domestic music aficionados. Still, no price points were given for the upcoming Sonic 4 fare.

Maybe this will encourage Jun to write some composer notes about the soundtracks like:
Sonic 4 Episode 1 Boss Music:”So I had this boss music rejected from Sonic 3D Blast because it sounded goofy and didn’t sound threatening so I thought it was a great idea to reuse in the sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles”
Sonic 4 Episode 2 Boss Music:”People complained that the first episode had repetitive music so I made the music for 3+ minute bosses a 10 second loop of the pitch music from the last episode.
White Park Act 1:”I added a reference to a song from Sonic Adventure here because I get off seeing people point this out every minute on Youtube”
^^^That’s hilarious, sir. Pretty spot-on right there! Although, I think you’re referring to White Park Act 2, if I’m not mistaken?
But is it going to be available in Canada?? That’s my only question.
@SSJSonicXX14 I don’t usually agree with your comments, but that made me laugh XD
The Colours soundtrack still hasn’t made its way to the UK version of iTunes despite the fact that Sega said it was going to be released here soon after the US.
Its not like they are avoiding releasing their soundracks in the UK in general, as they have released every other Sonic soundtrack on iTunes over here at the same time as in the US.
Does anyone have any idea what happened? I think TSSZ may have said they were looking into it shortly after it came out in the US, but I haven’t heard anything since and I think that was about a year ago.
And fans downunder have to copy the tracks from imported CD’s or pirate them again. Great job with the global sales market on digital content SEGA! Not a single soundtrack is available legally in Australia/New Zealand iTunes store. We wont give you a legal way to buy the digital tracks, but we will get the law onto your ass if we catch you pirating!! And studios still wonder why people pirate….
Calling it now: Canada is left out of the music again.
C’mon, Tristan. You shouldn’t be biased w/the subtitle, even if it is true.
No wonder they took down the free Ep 1 songs from the website.
There are other digital venues than iTunes Sega. Come on…
Chiptune music is fugly and hurts my ears, but it’s good to hear that people who actually like that garbage will be able to get ahold of it.
Let’s hope for Colors-esque music for Ep. III.
(For bonus points, Sega needs to call it Ep. III and Knuckles)
Also, for anyone who’s not stupid and wants to get the music for free, simply waltz on over to brawlcustommusic.com.
@HyperMetal:
Here, try some good chiptune.

Seriously what happened to the Generations soundtrack? I’m getting just a little sick of waiting on it. :/
@HyperMetal
Try some Anamanaguchi.
^Oh dear, I didn’t think it would pop up as an embed. If you would be so kind as to delete my blunder please Tristan. :p
Well, I guess that means us Canadians don’t have to pay for Sonic 4 music! SEGA, you suckers…
Doubt it will come to the UK….might have to dust off my pirate hat….
@skai
I’m going to assume that the Generations soundtrack isn’t coming anytime soon because of the Dreams Come True material. That has to be negotiated separately, and while they had to make a deal with their domestic release, international laws are probably more involved. I don’t know if Sega is going to bother trying to sort out everything to release the Generations soundtrack for the west. Everything else on that soundtrack shouldn’t be an issue right-wise.
It doesn’t matter how well it’s handled; chiptune is gross. I don’t care if it’s fucking Mozart, the instruments are annoying and ear-rapey. I’d gladly hear Casino Night Pinball over the original any day.
And I mean, fuck, listen to Walk on Water in the S3&K OC remix. It’s an update of one of the best chiptune songs out there, and easily blows it away. Whatever, it’s pointless to argue opinions.
