Where Did My Save File Go?
Sega recently rolled out another update for Sonic 4: Episode I on iOS. This update, known as version 1.3, is said to contain “general bug fixes and optimization”, but many players (including myself) have found it to contain frustration as well. Aside from some under-the-hood changes, users will notice two big differences: an ad for Sonic 4: Episode II has been added, and their save file has been erased. The game will remove the “continue” option and load as though you are playing it for the first time, although Game Center achievements and leaderboard submissions do not seem to be affected.
Fans have been vocal about this assumedly unintentional happening, and the App Store currently has several unsavory reviews that reflect the general discontent. If you have yet to update Episode I on your iOS device, we caution you against doing so for the sake of your save file. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information about future updates as it becomes available.

aww man i did not get any thanks for tipping this, oh well i was pretty surprised myself when i saw my save file was gone, and right now am trying to beat the game again, and get all the chaos emeralds lol
Haha! I knew waiting to update apps until the end of the day was always a good idea! >D I’ve been cautious about sonic apps anyway.

That version sucks anyway. Mobile was not good to Sonic 4, especially ep 1. 2 got good treatment.
Great I’ve lost all my save file now. Took me forever to get the fucking emeralds. And all the update added was an add for friggen episode 2 which I wasted my 7 dollars because it doesn’t work. >:(
