“Bayonetta 2” announced for Wii U during Nintendo Direct

And it’s Wii U Exclusive

Last year, we brought you a number of rumors from a trusted source – many of which turned out to be true, save for one: concerning what was intended to be an impending Bayonetta 2 announcement. In place of Bayonetta 2, we were treated to the announcement that Platinum Games would instead be heading up development on Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, and things took a turn for the worse when more rumors began circulating that Revengence was responsible for Bayonetta 2‘s secret cancellation behind closed doors.

Whatever happened then is now moot; on a live Nintendo Direct broadcast today, Satoru Iwata revealed that Bayonetta 2 is not only on its way to Wii U, but is now exclusive to that platform, as Nintendo and Sega are teaming up to publish the game. Not much else is known about the title for now, only that Yusuku Hashimoto is returning to direct and former Clover Studio CEO Atsushi Inaba will act as producer; Hideki Kamiya’s role in the proceedings have yet to be clarified.

We’ll keep you posted as things develop.
