Nagoshi On Hand To Accept Honor
Our Japan reporter Danny Russell tells us that Sega and more specifically Yakuza 5 were honored at the end of the 2012 Tokyo Game Show with a win at the Japan Game Awards.
[Yakuza 5] was one of the eleven winners of the Best Upcoming Games Division prize in the Japan Game Awards 2012 which was held on Sunday, the final day of Tokyo Game Show. After having spent the morning taking photos with fans, Toshihiro Nagoshi accepted the award alongside two of the lovely ladies from the game’s booth. He said with each game in the series he strives to have each part of the game equally polished: enthralling and well-performed drama, satisfying exploration and interaction in the adventure sections and a combat system that’s challenging while accessible.
Yakuza 5 was a big hit at the show. Danny says those in attendance were able to get ten to minutes of playtime out of the game’s booth, and Yakuza branded merchandise was the first to sell out at Sega’s store on the TGS show floor. If nothing else, the franchise has certainly cemented itself as one of Sega’s flagship series in Japan.
