Your chance to get your favourite character in the game
Disappointed with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed roster? Want to see someone else join the race? Now you have the chance to up your voice and tell SEGA who you want to join the game.
Back at Sega official forums, S0L made a proposition no one could refuse. If the community as a whole got to agree on 3 characters, with more than 1000 votes, and get a way to show it in a professional and credible way before December 1st, he will present the results to Sega and do whatever possible to make those characters in the game. In other words, now you can vote for your favourite characters and can get them in the game, if they reach 1000 or more votes before December 1st.
I’ll set you a challenge. Without any policing from the SUMO or SEGA crew, if you can all agree on three characters by the 1st of December and prove there is sufficient interest of at least 1000 unique people *per* character, I will present the result to SEGA. I can’t promise anything will happen as a result, but since you’re starting it…
Let’s see if you can organise yourselves in the next few weeks to pull that off!
My sole hints, first you probably need to define some rules, then agree on who will police them, and then run it fairly (no cheating) and deliver something professional and credible I’d be able to use. You are on your own for the rest

What a good deal! Now you might ask, how can I participate? Easy! Just click and sign on the several petitions Sega Forum users had made, after a poll made in those boards selected who were the most requested ones. To register your vote, you only have to fill in your personal data ( don’t worry, they will only be seen by SEGA), and click ” Sign” at the petition of the character you would like to vote ( let’s say…for example…Segata Sanshiro. Who wouldn’t love to see a Japanese man riding a Sega Saturn and kicking everyone ass if they’re not playing Sega games?)
The rules are quite easy. You can vote everyone you want, no limit. But, you can only vote once for each character ( you can’t vote two times for the same character). There are very serious ways to detect if any character has duplicate votes, so if there are, the character will be disqualified. So don’t do it.
The list of characters, along with the links to vote, are down below.
-Space Harrier (Space Harrier)
-Ristar (Ristar The Shooting Star)
-Bonanza Bros. (Bonanza Bros.)
-Blaze Fielding (Streets of Rage)
-ToeJam & Earl (ToeJam & Earl)
-Jacky Bryant (Virtua Fighter)
-Sakura Shinguuji (Sakura Taisen)
-Billy Hatcher (Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg)
-Selvaria (Valkyria Chronicles)
-Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid/Project DIVA)
Vote now, before December 1st!

@Sonikdude101 Sorry if I disagree with you on the Miku thing, but I’d LOVE to see her in the game. I mean come on, she’s one of the most popular Japanese idols, even if she is just a computer program!! I’m a HUGE Vocaloid fan, and I believe they need some more love in the US, ESPECIALLY Miku!!
If it makes you feel better, though, after I voted for Miku, I also voted for Ristar, Vectorman, and Segata Sanshiro. They deserve to be in here as well!! Ristar was one of the non-Sonic games I played when I still had my Genesis, so nostalgia powers, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I wasn’t actually introduced to Vectorman until I snagged a copy of Gems Collection, but when I played it, I LOVED IT.
And Segata Sanshiro? COME ON, he’s GOTTA be in it.
So my bottom line is, while I absolutely LOVE Hatsune Miku and do think she deserves to be in this game (hell, Sega made her Project DIVA titles, the only games I’ve ever imported), there are bunches of other characters I’d love to see make an appearance. It may be nostalgia talking for a lot of them, it works in their favor on this occasion.
Are my comments showing up, because they don’t appear to be.
My original post I said all, but I posted again and limited it to a few. Don’t take the first ones for votes, only the second.
Alis Landale, Space Harrier, Ristar, Vectorman, Bonanza Bros., Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, ToeJam & Earl, Sketch Turner, Jacky Bryant, Sakura Shinguuji, Rag Rappy, Ryo Hazuki, Billy Hatcher, Kazuma Kiryu, Welkin, Selvaria, Segata Sanshiro, Phantom R, & Bayonetta
Those are my actual votes
Ryo is cool, and I was looking forward to using Billy, so it’s sad to see that they aren’t in the sequel. The thing is, both of those characters have already had a chance to shine.
Vectorman is perfect for this game, and it’s a shame that it looks like he still won’t get the chance to prove himself. The same with ToeJam & Earl. And they are even more relevant, since they just had both 16-bit titles released digitally.
@EngineR2
I came back to this article to check the standings, and after seeing them, was going to make nearly the exact same comment.
PLEASE FOR GOODNESS SAKE VOTE FOR VECTORMAN!!!
Current top three spot results for the ASRT Petitions as of November 28, 2012 at 17:00 EST:
1. Miku Hatsune – 2,918 ( http://www.change.org/petitions/sumo-digital-sega-include-hatsune-miku-for-sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed )
2. Ryu Hazuki – 2,758 ( http://www.change.org/petitions/sumo-digital-sega-include-ryo-hazuki-for-sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed )
3. Segata Sanshiro – 2,549 ( http://www.change.org/petitions/sumo-digital-sega-include-segata-sanshiro-for-sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed )
These results mostly correspond with my prediction from the get-go with one minor alternation. Ryu soared in the ranking over the last week, leaving Vectorman and Ristar in the dust as they continue to hover around 1,000 votes each. What I believe will happen in the final days of these petitions is that, although we may seem some shifting among these top three players from heroic efforts in each camp of fans, this will be a clear win for each of them no matter their final top three spot. For that reason among many others, I did not think it was worth the time or effort to post the results of the others, but feel free to take a peak for yourselves on the actual petition pages if you are so interested.
So……. the December 1st deadline has come and gone. Whats the good word?
The official word, and I know I’m really late to saying this, is that Steve Lycett intends to pitch EVERY candidate who has received 1,000 or more votes. Assuming the counterfeit voting doesn’t affect the results, they consist of Ryo Hazuki, Hatsune Miku, Segata Sanshiro, Vectorman, Bayonetta, Ristar, and Toejam & Earl in that order.
