Official sales charts for the UK were released by GFK earlier today, giving fans the first look at how Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed moved in the region.
Unfortunately, this first step could have benefited from a more complete rollout. The combined sales of ASRT on XBOX 360 and PS3 were good enough to earn the 27th spot on the charts. But apples to apples, that’s way down from the debut of the original ASR in 2010, when five versions of the game debuted the same week and propelled the game’s combined sales to 8th place on the same charts.
ASRT performed better than its closest competitor, Sony’s LittleBigPlanet Karting, which charted 28th. But the rank wasn’t much higher than the year old Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, which is still on the multiformat Top 40 at 30th place.
Individually, ASRT debuted 18th on the PS3 UK chart, and 15th on XBOX 360. Both those ranks are up compared to the original ASR.
Keep in mind that these ranks only reflect two days of sale, since ASR Transformed only went on sale Friday in Europe. That means the ranks should go up with a full week on store shelves. The better tell may be sales in North America, but we may not have those numbers until next week despite the street date being broken. We will keep you up to date.
