…With a Catch
The day many have patiently been waiting for has arrived. Sonic Generations has made its way to a digital download venue. Sega of Japan made the announcement via Twitter, and we just checked and confirmed the soundtrack is available on many of the domestic iTunes shops as well.
But there’s one small problem. Instead of 3 discs and 90 tracks, Sega has neutered the offering down to just 2 volumes totaling 60 tracks. All the cutscene music was tossed for this release, as were some of the skill stingers and other jingles. Those probably won’t be missed, but what might is the White Space Medley, a more than 10 minute montage that didn’t make the cut for digital. Also gone are the end roll credits for both the home console and 3DS version.
Each whole volume is $9.99. Individual tracks can also be downloaded for 99 cents a piece.

Eh, most of the music aside from the stage and boss themes were kinda forgettable. Though not having the White Space arrangements and the Ending Medleys is kinda weird to me, I’m just glad we have the soundtrack now.
Hmm ill stick with my physical copy
The cutscene music in this and Colors (with the exception of tracks based on Eggman’s theme and reach for the stars) were absolutely forgettable and often sounded like something you’d hear on Nick Jr. ugh. If they really wanted to make them stand out more they should have based them subtly on other famous Sonic songs, one possible example of this is parts of Cutscene 8 sounding a whole lot like Sonic 1′s boss theme which makes sense considering this is the Eggmen’s big scene.

@SSJ …It’s cutscene music. You can’t really have guitars and horns blaring when they’re just talking.
@ssj since when do we pay attention to how memorable cutscene..mind you CUTSCENE music?
I already downloaded the soundtrack before it came to iTunes and I can surely say, I care for everything else BUT the cutscene music
Big whoop the whole soundtrack was already up before iTunes now hell I’m listening to White Space Medley (one my favorite tracks from Generations) right now
I wish they’d make more physical copies of Sonic soundtracks (and affordable, for once).
@Wesall1
I’ll stick with my physical signed (by Jun Senoue) copy.
@HeatPhoenix You lucky bastard. XD
