Only 9K Copies Estimates Sold on Each

In addition to Wii U estimates, we have some more unofficial trends to share for the US debut of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on XBOX 360 and the Playstation 3.  Unfortunately, they are not much better than the European launch figures were, especially when taking into account Black Friday.

Independent website VGChartz estimates 9,272 copies of ASR Transformed sold on XBOX 360 last week in the States, while 9,506 sold on the Playstation 3.  That is an improvement on the EU launch data but not by much–only by a couple thousand copies–and consider that Europe’s launch week only counted two days, versus the official five or so days the US market had, in addition to the numerous retailers who broke the street date the previous week.  It is not clear whether these numbers account for the broken street date.

When comparing apples to apples with the debut of the original Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, the results are mixed.  On XBOX 360, ASR Transformed debuted with 25 percent less sales in the US than ASR, but on the Playstation 3, the sequel improved on the original by nearly 25 percent.

We will see what Week 2 brings.  It is indeed a marathon and not a race, but it may be the Wii U version will have to carry ASR Transformed should the game have any hope of being considered a success.
