Maybe we have another broken street date on our hands. Maybe Sega just doesn’t care about promoting its flagship franchise anymore. Whatever the case may be, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed appears to now be available for the Playstation Vita in some areas, either physically and/or digitally depending on where you live. Digitally, we’ve learned it’s an approximately 1.5 GB download, plus a 100 MB update.
Assets began surfacing on the Internet earlier today. At the earliest, the portable edition was expected to drop later this month and even that was in question, given how absolutely no media had been released for the PSV port. Meanwhile, there remains concern over the 3DS version, with many retailers showing its release date bumped to 2013.
SSMB forumers Merry Ming Shana and BlueTidalGamer have uploaded an array of screenshots from ASRT on Vita, including Seaside Hill, After Burner, Samba de Amigo, and Super Monkey Ball areas. Check them out in our gallery below. If you have the game for PSV, tell us what you think about it in the comments section.

Quietly releasing a game on a console that struggles to sell
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
Wow, even with thir games (co-)starring their main mascot Sega still has no clue on how to market them properly. This is just yet another stick in the teetering Jenga of Sega’s financial problems tha if not treated with caution will cause the entire system to collapse on them.
Not bad!
Graphics look impressive!
@HyperSonicN1
Yeah watch them shove this thing out without hype on a system that’s bombing harder than the Zune while they still haven’t said anything about the iOS version, but I expect nothing less from the poorly managed modern day SEGA.
I thought the vita was supposed to have like crazy good graphics i mean i wasnt expecting it to be as good as the xbox version but just look at that water
The game has been removed from the PSN store, so I think it’s safe to say that it was not meant to be sold yet.
Well, I need my 3DS version.
The graphical quality here looks like how I would expect the 3DS version to look, which makes me wonder if it is indeed the same version, but at a higher resolution. Is there any word on the content of this version? Is it the same as the console version?
Also, before anyone points out that we have actually seen screenshots and a video clip of the 3DS version, what we have seen in the way of screenshots has been unbelievably low quality and the video was too short to see enough to judge the graphics.
What a waste of dev time and resources. Fuck Vita.
I still plan to buy this for the 3DS and Vita but tbh I’m not that fussed anymore.
I don’t see myself scrambling to get a day one purchase to secure the L.E. exclusive DLC because I really can’t see it selling out anytime soon.
I dunno, I find it hard to be exited for the game when sega clearly doesn’t give a crap. The home console version just screams of a game that was rushed for the holidays and the poor advertising just give the impression that this project was doomed from the start.
Lets face it, this game was NEVER going to sell well, it was released a week after Halo 4, Call of duty black ops 2 and several other big Xbox/PS3 A+ titles. Just look at the advertisement for Halo 4, like the franchise or not, you can’t deny that promotional art is to die for.
I’m not saying Sega should be trying harder to compete with those franchises, I’m saying they clearly have a losing game plan here and need to rethink their marketing strategy or just sink into bankruptcy. The average gamer probably isn’t even aware sega still exists. Games like Binary Domain, Wrath of the dead rabbit, Rhytm Thief, Vanquish, etc have little to no advertising, despite being decent games. And after the whole fiasco with Anarchy Reigns I doubt sega still has any chance of a future with Platinum Games. Hell if I was them I couldn’t be happier to move back with Nintendo. Some foster parents just arn’t qualified enough to ever raise children, y’know?
Reminds me of that whole fiasco with Ryan Drummond re-auditioning for Sonic, I dunno I just really find it hard to keep respect for this company. Sega’s like a Batman Villain, they’re just too damn unpredictable for their own good.
Rant over.
@Graxer
I’m wondering the same thing tbh, my only driving force for wanting the handheld versions is hoping it’ll have it’s own exclusive content and/or levels like the original game did on DS, mobile and IOS. if it’s just the exact same game with even lower res visuals then whats the point?
Look at me being all wrong and stuff.
Anyways, this is kind of pathetic. This should be the 3DS version and the Vita version should look better. This is pretty ugly either way though.
What kind of graphics are those? I know that the Vita can produce better graphics than that.
God, Knuckles looks as shiny as in Heroes in the last screenshot. XD
…dafuq is up with Knuckles in the last screenshot?
