Machinima Cuts More than 10% of Workforce
Machinima.com, best known in community as the site and Youtube network behind the humorous Sonic for Hire series, cut a chunk of its workforce today.
The site’s editor-in-chief told Joystiq 23 of the company’s 200 positions were eliminated, mainly in the editorial division. Fifteen job openings remain there.
For the moment, it does not appear the layoffs will have an impact on production of Sonic for Hire, which is made by the third-party team of LowBrow Studios. In this particular case, it appears Machinima.com acts more as a publisher and distributor than anything else. Currently, the sprite-animated short is in its fifth season, and is seen regularly by more than 100,000 people a week on Youtube.

Funny since this, along with Sanity Not Included, are two of the only things worth watching on Machinima.

Sonic for Hire is the only thing I watch on Machinima, but still, this is terrible considering how popular they are. Feel so bad for the guys who got hit with layoffs.

How ironic that “Sonic for Hire” is facing layoffs.
And MM2, if you’d ever had your face raped, you wouldn’t joke about it. It’s a scarring experience and the REAL reason how Joker got his scars. Not to mention that it’s a crime against anatomy and usually ends in the rapist getting dentally emasculated. So I’m guessing that that was NOT mannumberone’s intention when stating his opinion.
