Time to Get Festive!
I’ll be honest. The Christmas season is, without a doubt, my favorite time of the year. For just a few weeks, the world becomes a little bit more festive: houses get draped in lights, seasonal beverages return to our lips, familiar carols and beloved television specials return to the airwaves, and (if you live in colder parts of the world) it all often occurs amidst a blanket of snow. So, if you’re in the holiday mood and looking for something Sonic-related to add to your celebration, allow us to recommend a few fan creations that help capture the spirit of the season!
The first video we’ve linked to is a musical piece from mikeblastdude, a talented remixer we’ve featured in the past. It’s a bell-filled remix of Ice Paradise from Sonic Advance 2 that rings out with holiday cheer…pun intended. The second creation is a mixture of two modifications of existing content: a holiday remastering of Green Hill Zone’s music by UltraSonicBros15, and a snow-filled version of Sonic Generations‘ Green Hill Zone by modder Megamaniscrazy. The third and final video comes from previously-featured community member NicoCW and features a recreation of Diamond Dust Zone’s music that bursts with festive feeling.
Thankfully, there’s one more Friday between now and Christmas, so we’ll be spotlighting more holiday creations next week. In the meantime, if you have something festive you want to share with us, send us a link at fansonfriday@tssznews.com!

Thanks, Louis! I mean, two of YouTube’s best Sonic remix artists AND one of my favorite Generartions hacks PERIOD. Picks very worthy of a celebration for everyone’s favorite holiday season!
Aw man, I totally forgot how much I love Diamond Dust
I really enjoyed the Diamond Dust and Ice Paradise remixes.
It’s STILL HANUKKAH. Do we really need to be talking about Christmas already, a week and a half away?
@Violet CLM Dude, Christmas commercials have been running since before Thanksgiving
UUUUUUUUGGHHH! I was totally hoping for the Genesis version of Diamond Dust! Disappointed.
@Violet: This must mean you have never seen “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown,” a holiday cult classic that shows Christmas advertising during the final days before the Easter holiday to, among other things, make a point against commercialism. For example, in point of the cartoon as the Peanuts gang enters one of the department stores, you can clearly see excessive ribbons and banners proclaiming “200″ and some odd days before Christmas. Now, that is truly where advertising sales and corporate greed meet, my friend…
Right now it’s to sad to be happy for x-mas cuz of the elementary school shooting. Those families will not injoy their christmas this yare: *(…RIP…:*(
NicoCW is a legend :3
@Sonicfan94: Not to enter into a touchy subject about a emotionally charged topic, I want to point out to you that if the killer did not do himself in after all that he viciously did to those children, according to a change in Connecticut’s state guidelines for first degree murder as of this year, he would not be facing the death penalty for his low and horrendous crimes. People in the United States must be quite out of the loop in today’s happenings when they, as I see it, give cold-blooded murderers the chance to live while those same murderers do not care about society or themselves and are just interested in personal vendettas or maddened obsessions.
I know this is turning into a political soapbox on a video game site, but for crying out loud, don’t people see that people determine choices themselves and are not mere organisms that have the wrong environmental stimuli to only go awry? Just try to provide all the political and scientific mumbo jumbo to prove that we are only living beings subject to chemical imbalances from the mere course of our lives, because it still does not prove the idea of the consciousness planted within each of us that many still just brush aside as a mere consequence of our being. After all, we are not biological robots with a complex AI that had a mere dice roll of DNA set forth a destiny in our thought and behavior, but, yes, we have something within us that gives us the choice to do and feel and know what is right from wrong to which no one holds exception.
Murder a destiny or choice? Murder forced or free? Murder at random or at our will? Just as you were free to read this web page and follow the lines and columns of this post, you are free to do as you please no matter what social, governmental or environmental factors were in effect. No one forced you to squander your time in doing this when there may been other pressing matters of the day or better choices at your disposal. Likewise, giving into anger, for example, is as much a surrender of choice as it was an active choice in the moment of its doing. So it is a pathetic and ridiculous claim to count it as chance, perhaps, to downplay personal responsibility in the mechanics and logistics of it all. Was it really the devil who made you do it in that moment of anxiety or was it your surrender to the thought of such that transformed into your rage? Yes, free, we are, therefore, free to judge right and do what is right and, conversely, free, we are, too, free to see what is wrong and to do what is wrong in the subtle and volatile interplay of our actions. No indoctrination by anybody, be it political gurus or supposed thinktanks, teaching that I am not responsible for myself but I am at the whim of chance and that society has to pay for my misdeeds is never going to change my thoughts on the matter, nor should it do the same to you and, as such, should not allow diabolical, enraged killers to invade your surroundings and endanger the lives of yourselves and those who are near and dear to you.
They need to somehow integrate the Dreidel with Classic Sonic gameplay.
That’ll be the greatest Hanukkah present ever…
But hey, A Diamond Dust and Phoenix Wright remix would be a badass Christmas present too
