Sonic Generations Also Returns to the Ranks
The official GFK Chart Track data released today is about as helpful as the VGChartz data is to follow sales of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which means the general trend for the game remains on the upside.
The marathon continues with combined sales of the game charting 14th for last week, a two place increase from the previous week. Individually, the XBOX 360 and PS3 version were also up two places on their systems, to 14th and 16th respectively. The Wii U version also jumped a place, and is now 3rd in the UK , behind Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U.
ASR Transformed will likely have one more week–this week–to make a mark before Christmas next Tuesday. While the numbers look good the way GFK formats their charts, most other indications are that the game is underperforming.
Of note, what appears to be the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations made a return to the multiformat top 40, at #40. It may be gamers are trying to find an alternate Sonic in lieu of a version of ASR Transformed that exists on the system.

Bringing a new meaning to the phrase “Nowhere to go but up”
Things can only get better from here.

So the 3DS version of Sonic Generations is still selling? Maybe SEGA should consider bringing Generations to Wii U. Surely it will sell better than ASRT..
3DS Generations!? I thought that was the biggest disappointment I’ve had with a Sonic game EVER. (I mean, I knew 06 would be garbage, but SEGA actually made this sound as good as the console version, which is completely false.) But hey, I can’t complain about others’ opinions on Dimps, so…huh.
As for the actual talk of the town, I’m very happy to see such an original, addicting title such as ASRT to rise up. Its just too bad that most of the positive sales news really only applies to the U.K. What about U.S.A? Heck, what about Japan? France? Italy? Maybe we just aren’t focusing on those nations, but I’m still curious.
Not bad.
I definately enjoyed Sonic Rush and it’s sequel and also Sonic Colors DS aka Sonic Rush 3 over Sonic Generations 3DS. I shipped the game back asap to Gamefly. I played Sonic Chronicles much longer than it and that just says a lot at how pathetic I found it.
Generations on the 3DS was okay, but compare to the console version…its meh, I prefer Sonic Colours
If Generations 3DS- the “inferior” version in the eyes of many- still sells well, it would be wise for Sega to focus more on the 3DS.
What’s the issue with 3DS Generations? I found it quite enjoyable. Not perfect, but enjoyable
@Darkgomugomu- Same here. I don’t see what’s so bad about about the 3DS version. It’s a REAL good time killer.
I also agree with A. If the 3DS version is selling well, then SEGA better have more Sonic content for 3DS owners in the future! Either Sonic Rush 3 or a new RPG.
Believe it or not, Neverland Co, Ltd. worked on Generations HD, they also worked with Sega on the Shining Force PS2 games, most know them for the Rune Factory series.
They should make a 3DS Sonic RPG, none of this Bioware BS.
I too want an original Sonic platformer from Dimps on the 3DS, no more companions, but it’s own ideas and experience completely original for the 3DS.
@ A: Or just focus on Nintendo.
Honestly Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has to be the best racing game I have ever played. Definately tops all the big racers that were released this year (I.E: Little Big Planet Karting)
@TheSonicBoom248
lol LittleBigPlanet Karting was a dissapointment I thought the game had tons of potential but once you beat the story there was like nothing to do. Sure you could make levels, play community levels, and play with friends but it doesnt have replay value like ASRT does with unlocking characters, mods etc. But LBPK had alot of nostalgia for me lol even if the first game came out like 4 years ago I believe…
Anyway ASRT is a great game and is a steal for $40 on consoles, I dunno about 30 for Vita but judging from the reviews the console version is probably a bit better. IMO LBPK should be around ASRT’s price range.
And @Everyonewhodissedgens3ds
I really enjoyes Generations on 3DS it was just way to short. I’ll say Radical Highway did suck in my opinion, the music for modern was ear rape. Other levels were fun, but the rivals were just basically the same each time with different courses and recolors lol.
But anyway I’m glad ASRT is doing a bit better. SEGA needs money, and I don’t want SEGA to be bought by Nintendo and be exclusive on their consoles. That would be a nightmare for me.
my bad enjoyed***^^
There are plenty of set-backs the 3DS version of Generations had. I wasn’t too crazy about the set-backs the 360 version of Generations had so I wouldn’t have been able to stand what the 3DS version decided to give me regardless.
@Mike
So… have you played the 3DS version? Try it out. I’ve found it to be both better and worse than the console versions in different ways. Totally different experience.
Has any one at SEGA thought about letting those guys develop a Sonic Riders game?
@WorldsSlowestHedgehog
Sumo better stay far away from my Riders series. Don’t need their ilk dragging the brand down anymore than what Sega already did to it with Free Riders.
@Skai Cyan
What’s up with the hate? 90% of ASRT’s reviews are positive, while Free Riders was horrible. They would only improve the series. Besides, Danica Patrick wouldn’t ruin the game by being a playable character.
@WorldsSlowestHedgehog
I haven’t ever liked Sumo, and review scores are worthless to me because I have the game. Also, yeah Free Riders was horrible I said as much. I want more like Zero Gravity with the control and trick depth of the first.
