Other Sonic, Sega Game Prices Slashed
It’s the Holiday season and the end of the year, so it must be time to move some digital merchandise. If you’ve waited for Sonic 4: Episode II to see a price cut on XBOX Live, your patience has paid off. Today, Microsoft announced the game will be half off through December 31st, at 600 MSP, or $7.50.
It is just one of an array of Sonic and Sega games that will be discounted on the service in the coming days, if not already. Jet Set Radio gets the same half off treatment for the next two weeks at 400 MSP or $5, while Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be 60 percent off at 160 MSP or $2. Meanwhile, an article from XBOX360Achievements.org says more daily deals still to come will include other games. In particular, they claim Sonic Adventure 2 and Hell Yeah! will be discounted on Thursday the 20th, Crazy Taxi will be on sale the 29th, while Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown gets a price cut the next day on December 30th.
Not yet revealed are how deep those daily discounts will go.

Awesome. They are using the holidays to get the last of the Episode II customers. Time for Episode III to become a reality, yeah? Can’t wait for next year…
Well if anything else, sega is good at affordable games
Meh…
Episode III better be in the works. Sega and Valve both don’t understand the point of episodic gaming. They could use a lesson from Telltale. Episodic gaming is supposed to be releasing small packs that create a bigger game with a price for each episode, but releasing those episodes within a reasonable time period of each other. The Sonic Episodes took way too long between each release so far, regardless of the change of engine, and Valve, let’s not even go there.
@Tenko
Episode III shouldn’t be in the works then because they don’t understand the concept of episodic gaming as much Dimps understands classic 2D Sonic. They removed Episode II’s cliffhanger ending so it’s safe to assume that SEGA canned Episode III or has decided to change it so radically that they wanted to remove whatever the secret ending hints because it doesn’t fit with it.

IIRC Iizuka has also backpedaled on there being 3 episodes after PR in 2010 outright saying that was the plan.
I’d rather have Sonic 5 (a full game not episodic) made by a different team or Sonic Team itself, what happened to Death Egg Mk.II and Little Planet is a interesting enough concept to base a game around especially if they went wild with Sonic CD’s time travel mechanic.
How about we just cut that series off at Sonic & Knuckles and act like Sonic 4 never happened,,,and not look forward to any numbered Sonic the Hedgehog sequels, because what they tried to do was so poorly done and so not handled with care that its unforgivable.
The ONLY thing I ever want to see from classic Sonic again are the entire original games redone with this gens top notch graphics. No Sonic 5, 6, etc.
If only I had money.
Jmack why would you want sonic 1 in better graphics
If classic sonic returns I want a whole new game with no homing attack although I rather sega put more time into a 3d sonic instead of a 2d sonic game
Hate to burst your bubbles, but Episode III still has a chance. After all, it’s only a matter of time before Ep.II gets thrown onto the Wii U for the Nintendo console fans that had to miss out the first go-around. For all we know, they could throw in the cliffhanger ending in the Wii U release. And as for people arguing that it won’t be on there, SEGA did say they wanted to port the various downloadable games they released on the 360/PS3 onto the U. As far as me and many others are concerned, Sonic 4 is still alive. I’m ready for that time-warping Death Egg.
PSN US has it on $10.
=/
And Episode I’s price went up from $6 to $10 lol.
There’s also a bundle for EpI and II for $15 on US PSN.
I guess this is as low as PSN US will ever get it.. so I’ll take it I guess.
I bought Jet Set Radio as soon as I read this article. I was going to wait until after Christmas to buy it but with the price cut I couldn’t resist. Getting the Jet ranking is a lot more tough than I remember.
@Peter
Because I would.
Guys, don’t cry or make guesses.
We already have a whole bunch of Sonic 4s that are better than the official one.
These are called FAN GAMES.
Hopefully this will encourage more people to give Jet Set Radio and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown a go. Truly amazing games.
@Knuckles Chaotix: If you need online pocket change and have about 30 minutes or so of free time in your day, you should seriously sign up for Pinecone Research surveys. It is much better than the rest of the survey offerings online because you get a guaranteed $3 per survey, you usually get one survey a week, you can tie it to a PayPal account and sometimes you will get free beta products. I happily use my money from Pinecone Research for getting my non-essentials and random stuff from online instead of reluctantly having to pull out the plastic and use my hard earned cash to do so.
By the way, the comment above is not from a spambot although it may look like it. Pinecone Research is something I highly recommend for you as someone who needs to satisfy their game cravings. I use cash from it all the time for Steam purchases without spam from the provider and it does the trick. Just google it for yourself for a valid registration link and begin getting some extra cash! If you find it useful, at least I have been helpful!
