“We’re straining to think of extra things we can do”
This is just insane. The developers of Freedom Planet earlier this morning marked an incredible $10,000 raised by community supporters, only seven days after their Kickstarter went live.
“You guys, seriously… We can’t thank you enough for your support,” read this morning’s update. “We’re straining to think of extra things we can do that are within our capability, but in any case, we can try and organize some fun things to show our appreciation. And, of course, as our funding climbs higher, the quality of our animated cutscenes and future webcomic will increase.”
A new $20,000 stretch goal has been established. The game’s voice artists will play through the game in character should that level be reached. At this rate, that should be no problem; a total of 430 people have contributed an average of about $24 toward the effort. Should the contributions continue at this pace, Freedom Planet could raise more than $40,000.

Man, they probably weren’t expecting this much support in such a short little time, nevermind the amount that’ll build up over the rest of the month! They already had enough to work with back at the initial goal to cover all the stuff for the game itself… really feels like GalaxyTrail has it’s future secured for success in the industry before it’s even got it’s first proper game out.
Best of luck to Strife and co! Hope you get all the upvotes and attention you’ll need for Greenlight soon!
Webcomic?
Well, this is unexpected. Congrats to Strife and his team for reaching their goal. Hope they reach the Steam Greenlight soon.
@SSJSonicXX14
Grow up.
Insane! Congrats to those guys!

LOL!!! I hope that dude will reprise his role in the new Spider-man movies.
There will never be another JJ
Guess we’d better pack up our bags, because no other comment in this thread will top the articulate eloquence of SSJSonicXX14′s comment.
Time for Disc game guys! Xbox exclusive!
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Nope, can’t get over the character design.
I’ve been really excited for this since playing the demo, and it was cool to see it hit the $10k mark. I’ve been thinking about pitching in a little money myself, but now that Strife has announced on the Retro forums that voluntary rolling has been removed, my excitement has been noticeably dampened, and I’m not sure anymore.
@sth88
Rolling being removed can only be a good thing. At best, it draws further away from the Sonic comparisons and pushing forward each character’s unique abilities (since they all had voluntary rolling, which could be used as a powerful slamming attack). At the least, it actually gives the second boss a bit more strategy beyond running up the wall, rolling into every boulder, then coming back down and getting the cheaply earned health.
@sth88
Haha is he going to just keep removing every Sonic like elements (except the Original the Characters DO NOT STEAL of course) which probably got a lot of people to give money to the Kickstarter in the first place? How long until anything resembling momentum based gameplay is taken out along with the slow walking speed being the only speed?
@QuietGuy92
I’d say the same to people making webcomics out of Sonic fan characters in 2013 who are over the age of 12.

Way to bring up something completely irrelevant, ‘mayng’. *claps*
https://twitter.com/…389769285292033 Please retweet this, let’s get Jesse Cox to feature it on YouTube! Galaxy Trail (Strife) was excited about the idea of getting him to feature the game, so here we are. Apparently they like his style.
As it turns out, unfortunately the top 100 on Greenlight thing was a bug, so we got a lot of work to do in order to get it greenlit. Even if you can’t pledge on Kickstarter, it costs nothing to vote yes on Greenlight if you have a Steam account.
Sorry I’m majorly pumped for this game, it is the most fun game I’ve played in years, and I’ve only played the first level.
Hope this reaches PSN someday. =,)
