Plus a Virtual Idol–And Not Who You Think

Sega has experimented with augmented reality, or AR features before, particularly with Super Monkey Ball.  The company will now experiment again with the Playstation Vita version of Phantasy Star Online 2, now just a month away from release in Japan.

According to the Phantasy Star Fan Blog, the PSV edition will allow players to superimpose various PSO2 characters in real-world locations using the portable console’s built-in camera.  Players can then snap and save the photos.  Poses can be modeled ahead of time with an array of preset animations.

In addition, a virtual idol will grace the game and its players with her presence, but it’s not Hatsune Miku.  Kuna will be singing with her virtual band in the Arks Lobby.  It’s not clear which version of the game she will appear in, be it PS Vita, PC, or both.
