Yes, It’s Still Coming
We’re honestly not sure if the bigger story here are the eight clean screenshots made available today by Sega for the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, or that Sega remembered the game exists and is coming out within a week for most.
Whatever the spin, it’s good news for you if you’re a portable gamer. The Sega blog confirmed a Friday release for Europe, and a North American release next Tuesday, the 12th. The game will include Streetpass features, and 8 player battles with single or multi-carts. The Limited Edition, as with the home console editions, will include Metal Sonic as a playable character, and the Outrun Bay stage.
For those on the fence and not convinced by that footage that leaked over the weekend, here are eight official screenshots from the game as part of Sega’s announcement, in the gallery below.

Why does it look like a original DS game? I know that with effort, games on the 3DS can look better than this.
Disappointing..
These screenshots really aren’t doing this version justice. When I watched the video for this version it looked really good. These screens just look…bleh.
These look rather low quality… not sure if due to pixellation, crappy image quality, or bad graphics (it better not be the latter).
They’re bad pics. The games graphics don’t look like this.
Don’t worry about the visuals guys. All 3DS game screenshots are pixelated like this. Iirc it’s because the games are always captured in 3D mode.
Hope this version is more playable than the vita game
Sega really needs to swap out the 3 pictures on the eShop with some of these. And yes, as Sonikdude101 said, all 3DS games look like this on non-3DS screens.
Compared with screenshots of Mario Kart 7, S&ASRT is graphically on par or better than MK7.
I’m REALLY hoping that they announce the next Sonic game soon. could really care less about All-Stars Racing, and that’s all that we’ve had to talk about for a long time…
@SpeedingHedgehog
“Could care less” means you care about it
“Couldn’t care less” means you don’t find it important.
Just pointing it out; it’s a common error when people try to get their points across. And I agree, there better be an announcement soon.
Vultorus the graphics are better than Mario Kart 7 Dafstervideos on youtube who posted footage of the 3DS version said so. So as MightytheArmadillo it’s just the screenshots.
Wow, this game looks bad. Looked fine on the Vita at least, but I feel bad for my 3DS-only friends. I will pass, I already have it on ps3 and vita.
@Doctor Eggman
God, you’re funny, acting like this is what the graphics really look like while you’re actually playing the game.
Also, how about those Vita sales?
DoctorEggman you really need to read previous comments before making reckless conclusions you just made yourself look stupid. :/
@DoctorEggman
I wouldn’t mind if this had vitas graphics if they were cleaned up but the vita version is downright broken, the snake jumps in the golden axe level dont launch you high enough,
if you do tricks before landing in water you could flip over, and many more.
I know that, as said many times before on this very page, that the quality is really much better on a real 3DS than screenshots. Thing is, I wish screenshots didn’t look bad and were always as high quality as it seems when you’re playing it. Take Sonic Generation 3DS, for example. While I didn’t think the game was all that great, I still give it props as one of the best looking 3DS titles ever, if not number one…when you’re actually playing it. The screenshots for that game were terrible and looked barely better than the DS’s SOnic Rush character models. Ugh…the SOnic Rush games make Sonic look like he only has five polygons in his entire body.
Going on a tangent with that, if they ever make Sonic Rush 4 (you can’t tell me Colors DS wasn’t Rush 3), SEGA either needs to take advantage of good 3D models from Generation 3DS for everything or make the game completely 2D and have the 3D make it look like a pop up book like Paper Mario. Every time I see Sonic Rush, it feels like the barely N64 quality models and gorgeous 2D sprites clash more than Obama and Romney.
@OneDimensionalPepsi
The issue with 3DS screenshots is with the computer display itself. One thing about 3DS is that with the 3D effect on, it looks less pixelated probably because the pixels are essentially doubled (each eye gets a screen worth of pixels). Once 3D is off, everything looks pixelated because the pixels are halved (both eyes look at one screen of pixels). On a computer display it looks even worse because the resolution is different, image capture quality, monitor settings, no 3D, etc.
