Will be revealed soon
A few days ago, some Hardlight Studios job listings revealed that they are working on a new Sonic game for iOS, called Sonic Dash, as we informed. It was quickly removed, but the news spread like wildfire and Sega has now acknowledged the game is, in fact, a reality.
The company has confirmed to Kotaku that the game is, indeed, coming soon, and that we might be hearing about it on the official reveal very soon.
“At this time, Sega is able to confirm that we are working on a new mobile game titled Sonic Dash. We have not announced any specific details on the product but we will be releasing additional information on this exciting, new game in the near future.”
But not only that. Thanks to Pocket Gamer France, we know the first details about it. The game will be, in fact, a Run’n Jump game, similar to Temple Run or Rayman Jungle Run. You will control Sonic, who will run automatically ( think of Sonic & the Secret Rings), an you will have to jump to avoid obstacles, defeat badniks and collect rings. The stages will change as you progress with the game, and the travelled distance will be recorded as a record, too.
It”s no surprise that the game will approach to the Temple Run mechanics, since the name suggested it, and the series has already toyed with that gameplay basis in Sonic & the Secret Rings, much earlier that all the smartphone game boom even started.
We will have to wait until the official reveal, but for now, how do you imagine the game will be? 2D ? 3D? Tell us at the comments section!
