Yu Suzuki is thinking about it
Those hoping for a miracle might have their wishes nearer to reality than they have been in quite some time; Shenmue 3 might be closer to be a reality now.
Sebastien Abdelhamid, independent Canal + France TV worker and member of the Monaco Anime Game Show has revealed on his twitter account ( in French) that Yu Suzuki told at that very same convention, which he attended as a guest star, is thinking about using Kickstarter to retrieve funds to develop the third instalment of the Shenmue series. He also states that we might also see the Shenmue story continue in a anime/manga series.
Kickstarter is a proven, successful way to fund games, and it’s not the first time we’ve heard about the possibility of Shenmue 3 being founded that way. In the past, other famous developers like Steve Lycett from Sumo Digital and Gareth Wilson from Bizarre Creations have stated that it could be a good idea and indeed, a good way to bring Shenmue 3 into reality. They even said that they would gladly donate money for it if it were Kickstarted.
So, do you think it would be possible to fund the game thanks to Kickstarter? Tell us in the comments section!

Getting back on the actual topic, sounds interesting but will Shenmue fans put the money where their mouths are? Only time will tell.
So how many millions would even have to be put into this one for it to be considered ‘done’ or ‘goal met’?
This isn’t some rinky dink project, it’s fucking SHENMUE 3.
Can people please stop bitching about wanting Sonic Adventure 3 like ignorant children. Yu Suzuki doesn’t have anything to do with Sonic Team or Sonic in general. He worked at Sega’s AM2 studio, working on other Sega franchises like the Virtua games and Outrun.
I would donate for sure
