Things Are Getting Chibi
The landmark 250th issue in Archie’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series not only looks to be monumental, but also quite cute.
Destructoid today released the variant covers for the issue, which will fall toward the end of the crossover Worlds Collide arc with Mega Man. As it is a twelve part series, one can only concoct so many cover variants to keep things fresh. Thankfully, the chibi cover of both Team Sonic and Team Mega Man, which do not appear to be drawn by Spaz this time, should have plenty of shelf life while readers wait for the July release.
Also revealed today is news that Sonic #250 will have a digitally remastered reprint of the first Archie Sonic comic contained within its massive 48 pages.
Have a look at the cover variants below in the gallery.

The Megaman one looks like a nod to Megaman Powered Up (aka Rockman Rockman). The Sonic one…just looks awkward lol
The Team Sonic variant doesn’t look TERRIBLE, but Sonic’s face kinda says “DERP” to me.
Maybe they should’ve gone with the Classic look, but with the post-Adventure eye color.
The Megaman one looks alright, but the Sonic one Tastes Like Diabetes (TVTropes). Only Eggman, Metal Sonic, and Cubot look good IMO, the chibi artstyle for all of the other characters just looks….off.
Interesting in the Sonic half, that there are no Archie characters, only game characters.
Amy looks fat. Shadow is playing a Game Gear. What is Espio riding on? Why are Tails and Knuckles holding hands? What is all over Charmy’s head? I wish Wiley’s nasty hand didn’t bleed over onto the Sonic side.
@sonictoast espio is riding a motor bug and its orbot that is over charmy’s head
The style they should have gone with for the Sonic cast to make it fit in better with the powered up designs is hiding there near the bottom right can you find it?
