A Little Persistence Goes a Long Way

Some of you may remember a much celebrated fan game from a few years back called Sonic Battle Lost Ending Neo.  Developed by a fan in Japan, the side-scrolling brawler won critical acclaim from the community, but like many other projects, it fell by the wayside, despite plans for a complete release back in 2010.

Three years later, news tipster ilcane87 reached out to us to say he’s been speaking to the developer, and the result from those talks is a new build of SBLEN that is now available to download.

Says ilcane87:

The Japanese developer stopped working on it shortly thereafter, but I managed to contact him and get him to send me an unreleased update he had been working on, which includes a new playable character, Chaos 0 (he lacks AI and a portrait, but can be selected from the first blank slot in the selection screen).

Also, the author, Rio Ututuya, unprotected the source files, and gives permission to anyone who’s willing to resume his work or use his assets with the Fighter Maker 2nd engine, which I included in the download.

You can watch video of Chaos 0 in action below.  There is also a detailed tutorial at the Sonic Stadium Message Board that clearly explains how to play.  We thank ilcane87 for tipping us.  If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us.  Click Send Tips at the top of every page, or tip us on Twitter.
