Whitehead’s Sonic CD Included
If you’re looking to invest in the new Ouya video game system later this month, Sega is offering some high level support by releasing recent 2D Sonic games on the system.
For those unaware, Ouya is the Android 4.1 powered home console system with OnLive capability right out of the box. It also has the distinction of being the first crowd-sourced video game system, earning some $8.5 million in contributions via Kickstarter. But it has its own store for players to download games, and today, Sega confirmed to GamesIndustry International that both episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 as well as Sonic CD will be available via that store shortly after Ouya’s June 25th launch.
We assume it will be the Christian Whitehead remastered SCD on tap, though no related details are immediately available aside from the fact all three have been optimized to take advantage of the system’s Tegra 3 processor.
Currently, Sega only has the above mentioned re-releases in the works, with the agreement not terribly unlike the partnership Sega has with Nintendo to bring the next three Sonic games exclusively to Wii U and 3DS.
All three will cost $6.99 and be available on June 27th. Demos will be available.
