The Original Fan Convention Returns to London
After taking a detour to the sea last year, Sega and Summer of Sonic organizers today announced the flagship fan convention will return to London proper.
The 2013 SOS will take place August 3rd at the Westminster Central Hall, according to today’s release. That means the show is about six weeks away, and the show will have a special theme with a tinge of metal.
“We’ve decided to introduce a theme to this year’s convention. And the theme is – you guessed it – ‘Metal Sonic and Badniks’,” reads the statement. “The robotic doppelgänger of our speedy blue hero, and the collective metallic minions of Dr Eggman, have the spotlight to themselves for 2013. But what does that mean? Well, while we can’t give too much away at the moment, suffice it to say that many of our events and activities will be Metal Sonic or Badnik related.”
No guests have been formally announced yet, though we know Nigel Dobbyn will return. Neither have details regarding ticket availability; typically SOS organizers make them available online and they go fast. However, the Westminster Central has a max auditorium capacity of 2,200 people, which may help ease the crush some this time around. We will let you know once tickets become available and any more details as they come along.
