38 Minutes of Event Footage and Interviews
For years, Summer of Sonic has served as one of the biggest Sonic conventions on the planet, a place where fans both new and old can put their differences aside and come together through their love of the franchise. This year, the good folks over at The Sonic Show wanted to mark the occasion with a little more flair, and the result is a 38-minute retrospective documentary on the entire event. The documentary includes lots of footage from Summer of Sonic 2013, including the costume contest, the multiple musical performances, and the interview with Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka. The production also includes interviews with many of the community volunteers that make the event happen every year as well as notable Sega figures such as composer Jun Senoue and Kerry Rizzo from Sega Europe alongside some enthusiastic fan reactions.
The documentary is very well done, and it helps to capture how much time and effort goes into making an event that big possible; it also captures how all the hard work really pays off. We have relayed it in full below, and we highly recommend that you give it a look, especially if you’re not all that familiar with Summer of Sonic and want to see what the fuss is all about. If you’ve never made it to Summer of Sonic and want to experience a taste of it for yourself, or you if you attended it in person and simply want to relive all the excitement, this video just might be the best way to do it.
