Bumped Back a Week

A trailer released today by Sega for Sonic Lost World that we’ll have here shortly slipped in some unfortunate news for eager fans in North America.  In that region, the game’s release has been bumped back an extra week to October 29th.

The delay applies to both the Wii U and 3DS versions, and no immediate reason has been given for the delay.  The game is still scheduled for an October 18th release in Europe.

Logistically, this takes Lost World mostly out of a busy October schedule for major Nintendo games in North America, but it also puts the game square at or very close to other major releases, including Wii Party U, Assassin’s Creed IV and Batman: Arkham Origins.  It’s also one less week Lost World will have to make a name before the XBOX One and Playstation 4 console launches, and one less week to have the floor to itself before Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games hits store shelves.

Certainly, this is a very peculiar decision on Sega and Nintendo’s part.  We’re looking to get an answer as to why, and we’ll update when we know more.
