A Blessing in Disguise for Lost World?
There is an update to share about that very specific release date Nintendo let loose last week for Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Nintendo has issued a statement claiming the Friday, November 8th release date listed on the Wii U eShop is not accurate.
“The Nov. 8 launch date for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games that was recently listed in a Wii U notification was an error,” says the statement published by GoNintendo. “A confirmed launch date will be announced in the future. We apologize for any confusion.”
The sudden lack of a launch date for M&S2014 may best benefit Sonic Lost World. To this point, the next major Sonic title in North America was to be released only a week and a half ahead of M&S2014. That should mean Lost World will have the floor to itself at least deeper into November and perhaps for a portion of the Holiday shopping season. The possible drawback is that the continued huge popularity of the Mario and Sonic franchise could have meant extra sales for Lost World. Now, the game will have to chart a course on its own.
