EU Week 2 Sales Also Rebound
Though by most standards, the launch week figures for Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games in the US were subpar, they were at least better than the UK and EU launch figures.
According to the independent tracking website VGChartz.com, M&S2014 for Wii U logged more than 9,100 sales in the US during launch week, the week of November 10th. Keep in mind that M&S2014 launched on a Friday in the US like it did in the UK, and this figure does not include digital sales. The number is also unofficial and meant to be a guide more than anything.
On the European side, the launch number of just a hair over 1,000 really had nowhere to go but up, and thankfully it did, but not by much. For week 2 of sales, M&S2014 logged just a hair over an estimated 4,100 units, according to VGChartz. While a great increase over launch week, that number is still not nearly enough to consider the title anything but a flop.
