Still Can’t Compete in Top 40

Given how it is a tie-in, we usually see a decent boost for the Mario and Sonic Olympic titles upon commencement of the latest Olympiad.  In this case, the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games began in Thursday, but with the Wii U as a virtual albatross, Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games remains well behind the rest of the pack.

That’s not to say it’s non-existent in the latest GFK Chart Track UK sales charts, which cover last week.  The latest data shows that M&S2014 placed 4th among Wii U titles, up a spot from last week.  That’s a better performance than it turned in during its initial November release, when is floundered for a bit in the top 10 and then dropped off completely.  But M&S2014 hasn’t shown up in the multiplatform top 40, and it’s not expected to.

If you were wondering Aliens: Colonial Marines is still in the top 40, down a spot this week to 17thSonic Generations has resurfaced and moved up 3 places week to week to 35th.  Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed placed 37th.
