“Like all good things, it had to end sooner or later”
There are major Sonic sites in all sorts of languages to cater to local audiences. Unfortunately, one of those sites has closed up shop suddenly today.
SonicItalia.net, a Sonic fan site based out of Italy, ended operations earlier today. A brief message, which we’ve loosely translated from Italian via Google Translate, explains the reasoning:
SonicItalia has been online ( under various names and forms ) since 1998. Like all good things, it had to end sooner or later , and although this was in the air for a long time , we decided to act today. There is no particular reason for the choice of the day, it is the time that the enthusiasm for games and adventures of the “modern Sonic” had died and what pushed us forward was the only community of this site and the people who were part of it.
Thank you very much for joining us in this long adventure. I hope you will remember us.
A fuller explanation is available at the SonicItalia website, which remains online as of this article’s publication.
