Developed by a Few Familiar Faces
There’s a new app called Major Magnet: Arcade on the iOS App Store, and it’s really fun; you play as a character who uses the energy of magnets to fly around colorful levels. Now, you may be thinking to yourself, “Yeah, that sounds great, but this isn’t Sonic-related at all.” That’s where you’d be wrong, because the game was actually created by some of the former staff behind Sonic 2 HD.
Jared Kasl and Tom Fry were two of the men that worked on the long-awaited fan game, and after the project failed to play out as they had expected, they left to form PagodaWest Games. There, they developed the successful Major Magnet series of games, the latest of which we’re featuring today. It’s a bright and vibrant game that’s easy to pick up and play, and if you liked Sonic 2 HD‘s musical style, you’re in for a treat because Tee Lopes, the man behind that game’s music, is the sound director of this one.
You can see the game in action below, and if you’re interested in playing it, you can download it from the App Store for free. Also, if you want to learn more about how Jared and Tom moved from Sonic 2 HD to PagodaWest, you should read this interview they did with GameCritics. Major Magnet: Arcade is currently available for iOS devices running iOS 5.0 or later, and an Android version will be available in the future. We thank Jared and Anonymus for bringing the game to our attention. As always, we’re on the lookout for fan works to spotlight, so if you have a project you want the world to know about, send us a link at email@example.com!
