Alien: Isolation the Big Winner

Sega Sammy disclosed in Sega Sammy Earnings by the Numbers this morning that the combined worldwide sales of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on Wii U and Shattered Crystal on 3DS amounted to just 620,000 units as of March 31st.

That is a double digit percentage drop from the numbers Sonic Lost World tallied during FY2014, when it shipped 710,000 units worldwide.

Both Football Manager 2015 and Alien: Isolation performed better than Boom in the last fiscal year, the latter quite significantly so. Sega Sammy’s report said more than 2.1 million units of Isolation shipped in the same timeframe. In fairness, Isolation had a much wider launch, including on PC.

The breakdown between what console performed better for Boom is not known, but to put this in some perspective: On average, more people are watching Sonic Boom early on Saturday morning every week than the total amount of people who bought the game to date.
