Tails Channel Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Party Interview With Aaron Webber

Tails Channel Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Party Interview With Aaron Webber

by May 9, 2016

Matt, the owner of TailsChannel, interviewed Aaron Webber on the Sonic 25th party and more. Here’s a summary of things, but be sure to listen to the entire interview in the video provided below the summary to hear it in all its context:

  • A live stream of the party is “very likely”, but he doesn’t want to know for sure just in case something comes up. He hopes to know for sure by June.
  • Aaron says that there will never be a dull moment at the party.
  • “If you can be there, please trust me when I say you will want to be”
  • The 25th anniversary party is technically Sonic Boom 2016, but it got a different name due to confusion and the 25th anniversary.
  • Can’t promise it yet, but it’s very likely that there will be a couple, maybe four, of Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice demo booths.
  • Aaron does memes for entertainment, that they laugh at, and because he feels Sonic’s attitude and the meme fits
  • Sonic social media has gone up a ton since the memes began. In fact, Twitter has gone from 140,000 prior to the memes to 300,000 now.
  • The 25th party will have “a lot” of special guests.
  • Aaron feels that 99% of the fanbase is “chill people”.
  • Aaron does not know information on the Sonic movie as it’s a different team.
  • No news on Sonic 3 Remastered, nor the console ports of Sonic 1 & 2 on mobile.
  • There are a few fan artists that have been collaborating
  • The “Chao Garden” experiment at the SXSW had the effect on Sonic Team that Aaron was looking for. Aaron’s a big fan of the Chao too, he’s played in the Chao Garden more than the main Sonic Adventure 2 game. He’s pushing hard for the Chao Gardens to return.
  • When posting something, Aaron is more concerned about the fan reaction than internal reactions within SEGA itself.
  • Aaron has no idea why the Gravity Falls folks were at SEGA.
  • Big’s Big Fishing Adventure 3 full game progression continues. The full game will release later this year, and Aaron gets a lot of messages on the game in the game’s developer chat. Work is being done.
  • Aaron made it clear. He doesn’t make the games. He just does PR, the game development is a different team.
  • Aaron gave an explanation of his knowledge on the game development cycle. It takes a lot of time.
  •  “SEGA, and in particular Sonic, are very focused on taking their time.”
  • Aaron is “quietly weeping” over PSO2 and badly wants it released westward.
  • Aaron mentioned two reasons why he’s excited for the party. One is to meet fans, but the other is because “there has been so much that we have been building up so much in the past year and a half and we have been very quiet”
  • “Things that are being revealed are being saved for later dates”
  • “You’ll continue to wait a bit longer, but when that wait is over, we hope you’ll be happy”
