Outside of the small footage we got earlier this month, Chemical Plant Zone in Sonic Mania has been largely unknown. Well, that has changed with Polygon E3 demo footage, which is below.

Good to finally see more of Chemical Plant and all the new stuff they added. Loving the molicule transportation thing and the gelatinous bouncy thing. Just gotta keep waiting, August 15 couldn’t come sooner.

On a not really related but completely related note, a video for Sonic Forces was released that gives us a look at all the gameplay styles with the all stages in their entirety, along with commentary from Webber.

    Some takeaways are
    1. Classic Sonic is the only Classic character that’ll appear in Forces
    2. The 3 different gameplay types will feature different music styles (Modern: rock/roll/guitar; Classic: retro/Sonic 4; Avatar: lyrical/pop/electronic? (Not clearly stated as Aaron is cut of)
    3. Chaos Emeralds (probably/implied) play apart in the story. (Seems like a no-brainer but Emeralds haven’t been featured in a Sonic plot since Generations)

What a mistake with the Classic’s music it once again shows how blind Sonic Team is, the fake retro of Sonic 4 was largely despised while almost every single one of Generation’s Classic tunes were rock solid and didn’t stick solely to trying to sound like fake Genesis chiptunes. Mania isn’t doing this with it’s new stages and even it’s old stage’s music so why is Forces?
Forces still looks less like Generations 2 and more the Generations that the Sonic team of 2003-2007 would have made.
