For all the revivals of Sega’s extensive back catalog of late – be it classic franchises through Sega Ages or more recent fare like Panzer Dragoon or, arguably, Shenmue, there has been one franchise that, to this point, has kept a lower profile: Super Monkey Ball. Originally released for arcades in 2001, a remake of a mobile edition under the Sega Forever initiative was released last year.
It looks like the series profile is about to be elevated, if a new rating found from Taiwan is to be believed. It confirms the name of Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball that several reports in May indicated first surfaced in Japan. A series of platforms – Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and PC – are also mentioned in the rating.
Sega has not indicated any new entry in the puzzle platformer series on the way just yet. If this is a digital-only release, given recent announcement cycles by Sega, the timetable from announcement to release could be accelerated. We’ll post updates when they become available.
