Sega’s Official Tokyo 2020 Olympics Game Receives Demo, Free DLCby Tristan Oliver July 10, 2019 0 comments
Amid the anticipation for the upcoming Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, it’s important to remember it’s not the only offering Sega has in store to mark the Games’ return. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game will in fact be out later this month in Japan, before its mascot.
In fact, a demo in the region is out now for Playstation 4 and Switch. According to Gematsu, the demo contains three events: The 110 meter hurdle, the 200 meter individual medley, and tennis. It’s also a timed demo, only available until next Wednesday, and only playable until July 23rd–a day before its proper release in the region.
Sega has also confirmed the game will be supported with DLC in the lead up to the actual Olympic games–an increasingly rare feature of Sega titles. All updates will be free. The first one, adding rugby, will be added in September. Judo will come in November. In 2020, sports climbing and the 4×100 relay will be added.
Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game will be released in the West next year. It’s unclear if DLC will be included as part of the Western release.
https://t.co/NCPkjiYdBA#Tokyo2020 #Play2020 pic.twitter.com/BVIjHdVSEg
