Sega fans in Europe, arguably where some of the company’s most loyal diehard fans live, will have to live without the Mega Drive Mini for a bit longer than the rest of the world.
On Monday, Sega Europe announced a 2 week delay for the retro device on Twitter. It will also apply to a planned launch in the Middle East:
Unfortunately due to unavoidable logistical challenges, the European and Middle Eastern release of the Mega Drive Mini will be delayed by two weeks, to October 4th 2019. We appreciate your patience.

For the moment, Europe and the Middle East are the only regions affected by this announcement. For the rest of the world, the return of Sega’s 16-bit wonder is now less than two months away. If that changes, we’ll let you know here.
