The release of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD draws closer, and thanks to SEGA, we now have our first look at the remaster’s gameplay. The game’s newest trailer showcases various levels and boss fights, all remastered for modern consoles.
In case you missed its announcement last month, Banana Blitz HD is a full remastering of the original game, with its 100 single-player stages and 10 mini-games all returning in a full 1080p/60FPS presentation. This HD release is also set to include online leaderboards and, in an update sure to please hardcore fans, the motion-control setup from the original game has been replaced by a traditional analog control scheme which, according to SEGA, has been “tightened” and “optimized” for each platform.
First released on Wii in 2006, Banana Blitz garnered a relatively warm reception; reviewers and fans directed most criticism directed toward the aforementioned motion controls, which many saw as unintuitive and imprecise. With a more standard control setup this time around, players longing for the return of a classic Monkey Ball experience on home consoles will want to keep their eyes on this one.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 29th, with a Steam release to follow in the winter.
