New Shenmue III Gamescom Trailer, Demo Info

by August 21, 2019

Only for PC Users Though

It’s a day in Shenmue III according to this new Gamescom 2019 trailer, and soon you’ll be able to spend your own day in Shenmue III. A “trial version” was announced just a few weeks ago, and today in a Kickstarter update, Yu Suzuki outlined what the demo will entail and a clearer picture of when we should expect it to drop.

The trial version is scheduled for release during the second half of September. The elements and features to be included have almost all been pinned down, and we are now working to finalize a delivery date with our partners. Once a date has been confirmed, another announcement will be made here in the updates.

The trial version will feature a stand-alone act with objective that takes place in the first area of Shenmue III, Bailu Village. The game will be playable for an estimated 1 hours, and will be replayable after the objective has been cleared. There are lots of activities to experience and we hope you go back for more until the trial expires.

The trial version will be for PC to be played on the Epic Games Store. An Epic Games account will be needed to play.

With the mention of the “trial expiring,” presumably that means this demo will only be functional for a limited amount of time, though it does seem to be open to all and not just a Kickstarter backer exclusive.

Other information included in the Kickstarter update suggests that the refund system for those upset over the Epic Game Store exclusivity is still not in place just yet. It will apparently come as part of an overall backer survey that will include the ability for Kickstarter backers getting the game on Playstation 4 to specify which region they reside in. Different regions will presumably be in different languages, and may even receive different features, and the update stresses that console region may differ from which region you physically reside in.

Finally, PC system requirements for Shenmue III have been included.

All told, nothing super outrageous if you have a moderate gaming PC built within the last three years, though it’s making me realize I should probably think about upgrading my processor soon.
