Tangle and Whisper Full Miniseries Review

Tangle and Whisper Full Miniseries Review

Over the last few articles, I have reviewed each individual comic book for this miniseries and given you my opinions on them. Now I give you my full opinions on the series as a whole.

I mentioned when I wrote the first review I was really not looking forward to the series. I didn’t really care for the characters enough to think they needed their own spinoff. I thought the characters were fine characters, good in the sense they were strong female characters and they had good personalities, but never enough for me to want more from them. To be honest, the only reason I read the miniseries was because of this job, otherwise I likely wouldn’t have read them.

That said, I am pleasantly surprised by this series. I did struggle to read the first comic, I thought it was slow and a bit dull, but the writing and art make up for it. Even if something isn’t my taste, I’ll always be able to appreciate the work that goes into it. This is something I encourage a lot with people, by the way, is to find the positives in things you don’t like. The second comic peaked my interest a bit more, but the third comic I feel like slowed things down more, despite the backstory given for Whisper (which I enjoy learning about, the backstories of characters I mean). By the fourth issue, I was enjoying what I was reading. The fourth did feel more my tastes, I like the redemptive feel it gave and I enjoyed the action and writing in the comic.

My main complaint revolves around how slow I felt the series was. It didn’t have as much action as the main series does, and it was hard coming from that to this, and I really don’t like slow stories. However, once the series picked up I did enjoy it. Overall, if you’re able to get past the slow start, I think this is a great little side story that compliments the main series well. It’s a nice little respite from the death and destruction going on in the main series. Thanks for reading my Tangle and Whisper reviews!
